In addition to having such a strong
showing at the State Championships, five Delta Aquatic Club records
were broken during the competition. Hallee Pinkerton lowered her
record in the 10 and Under Girls 100 Yard Breastroke event at the
State Championships.
Pinkerton broke this record three weeks ago at the Charlene
Craddock Invitational Meet in
Cleveland
,
MS
and broke it again at
State Championships.
The previous record stood for 13 years prior to Pinkerton’s
record breaking swims.
Emily Mansour broke the 11-12 Girls 100 Yard Freestyle record which
held its place in the record books since 2001. Manuela Jojoa-Portilla broke 2
records at State Championships. She set new records for the 13-14
Girls 200 Yard Freestyle and the 1650 Yard Freestyle events. The Delta Girls lowered the
13-14 200 Yard Freestyle Relay Record set in 2003. The tandem of Beth Baugh (13)
of
Cleveland
, Elizabeth Canalejo
(13) of Cleveland, Manuela Jojoa-Portilla, and Mary Clay Kline
lowered this standing record by over two full seconds.
“It is tribute to these swimmers dedication and
commitment to this sport that so many records were broken at this
meet. It demonstrates
the overall strength of our Delta Aquatic Club team and creates a
strong future for our team as they continue to train and strive for
greater accomplishments,” comments
Murray.
Kevin Cox, President
of the Delta Aquatic Club Board, states, "The Delta Aquatic Club
has more than 200 swimmers in the Club this year, and many of them
are first-time swimmers, which is exciting for me to see the Club
grow with new, enthusiastic children. Now is the perfect time
to join the sport of swimming as Long Course Registration is
scheduled for Monday, March 8 and Tuesday, March 9 from 4:00 pm
– 6:00 pm at the DSU Aquatic Center Lobby. Any family interested in
