DAC - PreMeet Email for the Craddock Meet

Hey Delta Ducks,

This email is being sent out to the entire Delta Duck membership.

If your athlete is a beginner level swimmer, or is hesitant in competing, we encourage you to bring them to the meet to help support team DAC.  This is a great way to introduce them to a swim meet atmosphere with other teams at the pool, which will lead to a stronger comfort level for future meets.

For those competing, here are the details for the upcoming Charlene Craddock swim meet at Delta State. This will be one of the largest meets DAC has hosted and we are looking forward to a good meet this weekend for your swimmers.

This meet web page will have anything you need to know on the Craddock Meet Page. This page is set up for the visiting teams, and DAC.

HEAT SHEETS will NOT be sold

In an effort to help give parents all the information needed before the meet, DAC will NOT be selling any heat sheets for this meet. This will allow both the parents and the swimmers to know everything prior to coming to the pool.

Make sure to print out the heat sheet before leaving for the meet each day.

By having the heat sheets on-line, this will allow families to print out as many copies as they want for the meet. For example, print one out for the Parents and one for their athlete(s) so they too can follow along watching the races and scoreboard as they happen.

Also, this will help with first time families at the meet. By helping make the meet experience a little smoother by knowing in advance what Event, Heat, and Lane their athlete is swimming.  Swimmers/Parents can come to the meet with this information and not have to write this on an arm or leg of a swimmer immediately before the meet begins. We still encourage you to write the information on your swimmers leg or arm, as a reminder while behind the blocks.

The Heat Sheet is currently posted and ready for printing. It is a pdf file. Every session is posted separately, plus there is a full copy of the Heat Sheet.  Again, we encourage all families to print out a Heat Sheet for themselves and 1 for each swimmer, so they can follow along with the meet.

Unofficial visit with DSU SWIM TEAM COACHING STAFF on Saturday Morning
On Saturday morning (Jan. 30th), there will be an UNOFFICAL VISIT planned for High School Juniors and Seniors with the Delta State Swim Team coaching staff. Swimmers and Parents should plan to arrive at the Aquatic Center @ 10:00am to meet the DSU coaching staff until afternoon warm ups begin.

Please let me know, in advance if you have swimmers wanting to attend the unofficial visit with the college team.  Contact me at deltacoachdanl@yahoo.com. This will help us plan according.

Coaches Note - Expected Behavior at Swim Meets
Bring lots of towels to stay dry between events.

The athlete must talk to the coach before and after each race.  The coach should be the last person the athlete talks to BEFORE the race and the first person AFTER the race.  This is to help the swimmer prepare for the race and then follow up with an evaluation of the race.

Family members may talk to the athlete at a swim meet.  However, only at designated times.  This is an effort to not confuse the athlete before a race.

Parents’, talking to your athlete is NOT permitted at anytime between “pre race talk” and “post race talk”.  Any other time otherwise is perfectly acceptable for supporting your athlete at the meet.

All swimmer and their families will sit with the other DAC team members at all swim meets.  If DAC has a designated team area from the meet, the whole family WILL sit with other parents and swimmers.

Parents, there are proper and acceptable places to cheer and show your support for your athlete.  Behind the blocks, is NOT allowed.

All parents should be in the stadium seating this weekend.  The only time allowed on deck, volunteer timing and/or working the meet.

DAC Strongly encourages for all parents to cheer and support their athlete’s teammates during their races.  Support TEAM DAC.

Families and their athlete will NOT leave a swim meet, unless given permission from Coach Dan’l.  We might need your child for a TEAM RELAY.

Special Reminder about Swim Suits

All Swim suits must be cleared by Coach Dan’l before purchase or use in any race.  No exceptions.

Reminders
Swimmers must wear a DAC T Shirt if you have one to show your team spirit. In addition, all swimmers (parents optional) who choose to wear a swim cap - it must be a DAC Cap.

We will have some on hand at the meet for sale in the DAC Store.

No exceptions on swim caps. This includes during warm up.

Special Reminder about the Meet
All 10 & Unders are in the morning sessions for Sat and Sun
All 11 & Overs are in the afternoon sessions for Sat and Sun

Volunteering to Time at the Meet
We need a few parents to help time throughout the entire meet.  A Swim Meet can NOT run with your support.  This is a small task, which makes a big difference in a meet running smoothly and on time.  Coach Dan’l greatly appreciates those parents willing to help time at the meets, by supporting DAC in this area.
