Delta State University Aquatic Center

The Delta State University Aquatics center opened on January 10, 2001 signaling a new era in collegiate swimming at Delta State University.

"It’s a dream come true," said Coach Ronnie Mayers. "It’s exciting to know we are going to be able to swim in a state of the art facility." The Center includes a 60-meter by 25-yard pool with moveable bulkheads, plus a separate diving well.

The Center has enough seating to accomodate over 2,500 swimming enthusiasts. The Center also has a men’s and women’s dressing room, athletic training area, offices for the staff, and two large classrooms.

The Center emphasizes classroom-instruction, competition, fitness lap swimming, therapy and recreation. The Center was designed by Singleton Architects, P.A. and built by Roy Collins Construction, Inc. Funding for the $6.2 million project was provided by the Mississippi Legislature during its 1998 and 1999 sessions
